Chris Lissimore registered with the National careers Service in August 2012 and was supported to gain preparation for employment training to build his skills in producing a CV, sourcing work and applying for vacancies. With the help of the National Careers Service Chris completed the course at Phoenix Training Services and was able to successful go onto further training with the company to complete a Level 2 warehousing and storage course and Counterbalance Fork Lift Training.

While on training a part time vacancy through Phoenix became available and with his new found skills Chris applied for the role and was successful and started working for Phoenix on a 15 hour contract. Chris proved himself to be a valuable and dedicated member of staff and was offered a QCF apprenticeship in Cleaning and Support Services with embedded functional skills.

Since taking up the apprenticeship and using his new found skills in his work Chris’s hours have now been increased and he is working full time as a caretaker.

Chris says “The National Careers Service helped me to access training and develop my work skills and confidence which helped me to get a job that I really enjoy and formal qualifications”.
